Our Requirements In This Move of God

The message of this coming move of God is so weighty. So I just gave a picture of what it looks like. But here I really want to give some specifics about our part in this.

Our Requirements:

1. Things have to be intentional.

This really is not a season to be picking up extra church duties that we have no idea why we are doing them. Find what is being effective and do it. Bill Johnson once said that on a trip to Israel, the guide described ancient farming to them. We now plow and put seed where we have plowed. But back then, when Jesus was giving agricultural parables, they would scatter the seed. Then they would find where the seed had landed and they would plow.

This is important because I feel we have taken up the same mentalities of doing things and asking God to put His grace on them rather than finding what He is putting His grace on and deciding to work there. I believe we must return to that paradigm. If there is grace on it, do it. It doesn’t mean it will be easy. It means if there is no fruit, leave it alone. Jesus cursed the fig tree for not bearing fruit. Find what is bearing fruit and work there.

We should never give up meeting together as the Body, but there are times that meeting together is more a work of procrastination or self-comfort than being obedient. We can’t just say let’s keep doing the same Bible study with the same ten people we have been doing for the last ten years. If there hasn’t been growth, what is the point? You won’t know if there is growth if there is no purpose to having it in the first place. No wise business man says, I am going to start a business purely for the sake of starting a business. If a warrior decided to go out and pick fights or overtrain with no purpose or plan, he would be devoid of energy and resources when his skills are needed most.

2. Prioritizing Is HUGE!!

Most people have more than one desire or mission they feel called to. This is a time where we have to learn to prioritize! So many people want to do everything or wait forever because, “I am waiting for God to tell me what to do.” This is one of the things I feel God on the most. He wants to raise up spiritually mature sons and daughters. Part of this is, is being able to make their own decisions, not simply being a robot. We are choosing in this hour to follow His commands. He is teaching us to live lives where we can stand by our decisions without regret.

Here’s the picture: There is a battle going on. You are a great and strategic warrior and you are told that you have the option to either go fight on the front lines and lead there or you can stay toward the back and direct the movement of troops. One is dangerous because you are in the front, the other is dangerous because you stand out. One allows you power to physically do something and inspire men to move forward, the other gives you power to direct the troops. You cannot do both. To not choose shows your lack of ability to make big decisions under pressure and someone else may step into your position.

You cannot do everything. And failure to make a decision either paralyzes you where you do nothing, or it puts you into a position you did not care for.

3. Get Rid of Distractions!!

When I say get rid of distractions, I don’t just mean things that are practically useless. I don’t believe one size fits all. Everybody has a different way they fight, train, live. So do I tell everyone, “Get rid of your Facebook account and television.” No. You do have to be able to decide if you spend too much time in certain areas though.

But above that, start being wise and observant. I have started doing a lot more based on observing what makes me feel more productive or able to be productive. When I eat, I consciously decide what and how much to eat. Certain things, if I eat more than a tiny bit will make me feel sluggish. Other things make me feel satisfied and I have energy for hours.

But even cut out good things!! Ephesians 4:14 says that infants are tossed around by every wind of doctrine. It doesn’t say “every wind of bad doctrine.” It says “every wind of doctrine.” Not every message is for you. Not every warrior has the same mission. So I have been going through my list of ministers and leadership people that I listen to. I have purposely cut out most of them so that I keep only the ones that drive me to be the most productive.

4. Get moving!

Our last responsibility in this move is definitely to be productive. Banning Liebscher constantly notes that Jesus told us to bear fruit, bear much fruit, and bear fruit that remains. It isn’t good enough for us to do things that will fade. It also isn’t good enough for us to be all about spirituality but not be productive. We are here to actually bring heaven to earth.

Hope everyone is doing well after the holidays. Stay pumped. Stay tuned in. Stay productive. Fight the good fight.
