This Next Wave of God and How to Ride It!

If, 2000 years ago, Jesus told the Apostle John that He was coming soon, we have no place to be lax in our thinking. So we have to make the most of our lives.
God has put each one of us on the earth, where we are, at this time for a specific reason. There are specific situations going on around you that call specifically for you and your giftings to conquer them.
Every year, we say this is going to be the best year. Yet, I feel so few follow through, and I feel this has much more to do with us needing to catch the moving of the Holy Spirit than about learning leadership or self-help principles.
The Next Wave of the Kingdom
A few weeks ago, I spoke at The Omaha HUB, and as we came out of worship, I got a message that I wasn’t intending to give, but when I did there was definitely something on it. This past week was the IHOP Onething Conference, and the message throughout the conference was so much in the same line that I have to believe God is really wanting to emphasize something.
So what was that message? God reveals things in waves and movements. He emphasizes subjects to His people. Those who listen and let themselves be immersed in that wave gain great benefit from it throughout their lives, but especially in that season. When God does this, each consecutive movement is strengthened with a foundation of the movements that preceded it. You can think of this like the waves in the ocean. If you were to surf, you get a lot further a lot faster by riding the wave than you ever could by paddling. And like a sky rise building, a floor is only as strong as the floors beneath it. Nobody cares, and it is actually more dangerous, if you have a really great fifth floor but the first four floors lack the strength to hold it up.
Over the last decade or so, I feel the thought process of God's Majesty and Kingship have been put aside somewhat. The emphasis was on learning His love as a friend, Bridegroom, and Father. These were needed because the Church was coming out of acting in such a dictatorial manner where, “You had better obey because if you don’t you’re a horrible person and will be punished." They were also needed because I will fight a lot harder for someone I love than just for someone I work for.
Through learning about His love in these relational ways, the Church has learned to be a lot gentler with people and approach them in a much more Christ-like manner. They themselves are much more secure in Christ’s love for them and therefore are more peaceful and loving.
However, the season is shifting. Where many people have been moved in these seasons, the mode of His Kingship is returning to the forefront. This time, however, it is being supported by the foundation of HIs relational love.
Warriors Will Look Like This
So what’s the result for those who take the previous message and build this on top? They will have an immense desire to be obedient and loyal to the King of Kings! They will accomplish so much in this season because of this desire and by doing it out of the motive of love! They will have an incredible amount of discipline in their life, meshing faith in God’s plan and His grace to complete it with the wisdom He gives to those who ask. For many, this will cause a lot of provision to flow into their lives for the sake of completing their missions!
Take Part In God's Divine Nature
What are the requirements? If you want to make the most of this wave, there has to be a response to the move of God, there must be action. Like 2 Peter 1:5 where he encourages us that God has invited us to partake in His divine nature and in order to do that we must make every effort to respond to His promises. However, almost all action has to be made intentionally. Distractions have to be removed as much as possible. There cannot be a dwelling on the past, what has happened in the past, or how things have been done in the past. The present situations have to be dealt with now.
There are some traps to look out for! You can’t afford to just be a busy-body, doing everything but not knowing why you are doing it. You also can’t afford to spend to much time trying to figure out what to do. It requires really just sitting, asking “What should I do, Lord.” Then whatever it is, you go with complete conviction unless or until you conquer that thing or He prompts you to change actions. But this is definitely a time where you have to prioritize and plan.
Not Responding Costs Too Much
What is at stake? In a lot of ways the same thing is at stake in this season as in others. If we fail to move with the Holy Spirit, we see less accomplishment and fulfillment in our lives. We see our unused potential in people who are carrying out their missions, and it tends to create feelings like bitterness, envy, depression, self-pity, and lack of self-worth in ourselves. Other people are counting on us too, even if they don’t know it. To see you carrying out your mission drives hope and hunger in others who you can direct but only if you maintain your mission. If you don’t continue in your mission, your amount of influence on another will fade.
Warriors, we have to stay diligent in this season! There is a lot to gain from it! It is time for the Church to return to a fierce love for the heart of their King!
