Stop Unmasking Our Heroes!!

I'm still stuck on unity. People underestimate it even though it's one of the most highly encouraged things among believers in the New Testament. So 4 things: back your training partner, go to get your boy, stop killing your wounded, and stop unmasking our heroes!
Back Your Training Partner
I don't care if my buddy is walking into a fight everybody in the world thinks he should lose. I am giving him every reason to look for the victory because "love always hopes." And when he is walking into the ring, the only thing that will help him is support.
Go Get Your Boy!
When the fight is done, win or lose, you go get your boy! He was the one you were proud of in the first place, not his accomplishments. And if you want to see amazing things come out of a person, let them know you will be there even in the tough times because love always protects.
Stop Killing Your Wounded
The reason I said "stop" is because it has become a common phrase for the Christian community to talk about how we kill our wounded and that we shouldn't, but yet we still do. Stop!! After your guy has come through a hard fight, the first thing he needs to hear is not all the things he did wrong. Start with what he did right. Ease in to the improvements that are to come. And after each one, affirm the person. Remember that "love always trusts and always perserveres."
Stop Unmasking Our Heroes
Now, I want to make a huge point. The guy who gets in the ring is the one who is under the most criticism. The higher up the ranks, the bigger the fight, the more criticism. This is true in the fight world and the spiritual world.
We expect those who show spiritual growth to keep taking on bigger things. However, sometimes they slip as they are climbing that ladder. Instead of finding a bunch of people holding them up, they find a bunch of people trying to drag them down. Instead of us keeping them close to God, we are found causing separation until they meet our standards. Paul said, "Restore a brother gently."
It's like in the superhero movies where someone finds the hero unconscious and they have to fight that urge to take his mask off and find out who he is. All this unmasking ends up doing is shaking people's faith because that person represented Something Bigger.
An awesome quote I heard this week, "Have you ever notices how most people who criticize water walkers do so from the comfortable confines of the boat?"
"Do to others as you would have them do to you." How do you want to be treated, and what would help you, as you walk into your biggest fights?
